Guide / Crop and straighten images
Crop and straighten images
Remove unwanted borders, set the aspect ratio, and straighten the image. This crop is used for preview and export.
Before you start
Open the photograph you want to crop. If lens distortion correction is needed, apply it before setting the final crop.
Steps
Open Crop and choose an aspect ratio
Double-click the target frame, exit any active picker or analysis-area edit, then choose Crop in the Viewer toolbar. Free under Aspect allows independent width/height; choose a ratio when framing must be fixed, then drag corners or edges. Free does not disable the crop. Inspect the subject and corners; this tool does not exclude pixels from negative analysis.

In Crop, drag a circular rotation-icon handle near the crop frame, using the grid and top Straighten angle to judge alignment. The angle readout is not a slider. Use toolbar rotation for a 90-degree orientation change. Recheck corners and subject after releasing, tightening the crop if needed. Some Copy/Reset/Apply to All actions may move into ··· in a narrow window.
Finish the crop
Click Done to leave the tool. Before applying framing to other images, check their positioning and aspect ratios. Verify the final crop in an actual export; Calibration Area does not replace composition cropping.
Undo an incorrect crop
After leaving Crop, inspect the action named after Undo in Edit. Undo Composition Crop will undo framing; confirm the action before choosing Undo. The blue highlight on Copy Settings in this capture does not mean Undo has been executed.

Check the result
After leaving the tool, check the aspect ratio, orientation, and corners. Check the export for empty edges or accidentally cropped parts of the subject.
Common issues
- To restore framing, use Undo or the tool’s Reset. Check the action being undone so other edits are not unintentionally reverted.
