Input color (advanced, optional)
This is an optional advanced setting, not a prerequisite for using the app. Usually, leave Automatic selected. Use this chapter when you have a suitable custom input ICC or need to check how an RGB file was prepared.
RAW and RGB interpretation
RAW contains the camera’s original records; an ordinary RGB photograph has usually had color and tone processing applied. They need different input settings. An incorrect choice here also affects CCM and negative conversion. Check the source before calibration, then use the editing panels for later color adjustments.
Before you start
Skip this chapter if you have no custom profile and do not need to change source interpretation. Before making a change, check whether the files came from a camera or scanner and whether they were processed elsewhere. Note the current input profile, flat field, and CCM.
Steps
Open input settings for the project
Open Settings → Input Color. Load defaults and Load current project choose which settings are loaded into the form; they do not choose where changes will be applied. Use Load current project when inspecting the open project.
Open input settings for the projectSelect image to enlarge Choose an input profile
Use RAW device profile for camera RAW and RGB file profile for ordinary RGB files. Keep Automatic if you do not have a dedicated ICC profile for this setup or source. Automatic still provides color management; it is not a custom calibration of your equipment. For a dedicated RAW profile, also check Device model and the Profile white balance used when making it. Read device from RAW… reads camera information, but you still need to confirm that the ICC profile is suitable.
Choose the RGB source type
Under RGB source, Rendered photograph is for an ordinary processed image ready for viewing. Transparency scan is for RGB that still needs to be treated as film-transmission data. A TIFF extension, flat appearance, or film subject alone does not tell you which to choose. Check the scanning or export settings for inversion, curves, or viewing rendering. If unsure, leave the setting unchanged until you can check. This option cannot undo processing already in the file or turn RGB into RAW. Do not convert an already-demasked positive as a negative again.
Apply to the intended scope
Use for new projects sets future project choices; Apply to current project changes the open project. A different input interpretation may reset CCM matching and disable an incompatible flat field. Recheck those settings afterward. Undo restores the previous input settings.
Check the result
Check the input profile used by the current project. After a change, confirm that flat-field correction is available and the CCM matches the new input settings.
Common issues
- The CCM no longer matches: restore or verify input interpretation before choosing a different profile.
