Receive new images with a hot folder
Watch the folder used by your capture software and add new photographs to the project automatically.
Before you start
Prepare a separate receiving folder and set your capture software to write files there. Check input type and calibration profiles first, and back up the originals separately.
Steps
Set input, folder, and project name
Open Watch Hot Folder on the welcome screen. Film Type currently offers Color Negative/Reversal. Choose Single images or RGB three-shot under Input, and the actual Bayer/Monochrome sensor for three-shot input. Choose a dedicated folder under Source folder / Project location and enter Project name. That chosen folder is also the project location; this form does not select a second separate location. Do not experiment in a source folder already in use.
Set input, folder, and project nameSelect image to enlarge Set existing-file handling and orientation
Include existing files controls whether photographs already in the folder are imported. Select it before starting if needed; otherwise only new files are received. Set Rotate before analysis, Flip vertically, and Mirror horizontally for your capture orientation, and check one frame first. Auto-detect valid frame supplies an initial analysis area; inspect its boundaries afterward.
Write three-shot files in R, G, B order
RGB three-shot groups files by arrival order R → G → B; ordinary Trichrome import uses filename order. Let all three files for one frame finish writing in order before moving the film. Keep tests, charts, and duplicates elsewhere. Asynchronous copying can change arrival order even when filenames are correct, so check a test group first. For existing files whose arrival order cannot be assured, organize their filenames and use ordinary Trichrome import.
Choose calibration profiles and start watching
Choose compatible CCM and flat-field settings for the capture conditions rather than borrowing unrelated profiles. Confirm the receiving and project locations, then click Start Watching. Opening the form alone does not start intake.
Check new photographs and stop watching
After new files finish writing, check that they appear in the Contact Sheet with the correct count and order. Finish with Stop and Finalize Hot Folder, then confirm that the project is saved. If an incomplete or duplicate file is reported, inspect the files in the receiving folder.
Check the result
New photographs are in the project with the correct count and order. After stopping the watch session, check that the project is saved in the chosen folder.
Common issues
- No new frames: check the watched folder, completed writes, duplicates, and input method before deleting caches or rebuilding source directories.
